As someone who regularly attends open court and observes criminal jury trials throughout the Twin Cities, I’ve seen my share of criminal defense lawyers in action. Recently, I had the pleasure of watching attorneys Joe Tamburino and Hannah Martin represent a client at trial, and they stood out in every way. They delivered everything you could possibly hope for in a criminal defense team, something that is sadly rare, given how low the performance bar tends to be for most lawyers in this field. Hannah Martin opened with a strong, confident statement, their witnesses were thoroughly prepared, and together they presented a clear, compelling theory of the case. Joe Tamburino then closed with a powerful and persuasive argument that tied everything together beautifully. What impressed me most was their complete dedication. They fought hard for their client before, during, and after trial to protect every right possible. Even outside the courtroom, you could see how genuinely they cared for their client through their interactions. Out of all the jury trials I’ve witnessed, and there have been quite a few, this was by far the strongest criminal defense team I have ever seen. That’s high praise coming from me, because I’m not someone who hands out compliments to lawyers. In fact, it’s usually the opposite. My late friend Dr. James Rasicot, a respected jury trial consultant who passed away in 2017, often spoke about how truly exceptional civil and criminal defense lawyers are so few and far between. I have no doubt he would have called Mr. Tamburino and Ms. Martin exactly that: rare gems in the profession. Mr. V

Attorney Joe Tamburino: I had a very good attorney for a complicated criminal case and ended up changing attorneys and using Joe Tamburino. When my previous lawyer asked who I had retained I told her it was Joe Tamburino. She stated that he was a very well-regarded lawyer, and well known. I said that I hadn't heard of him before but I also did not know any criminal defense lawyers. She assuaged my fears and said that he's one of the best in the state and that I was in good hands. She wasn't wrong. Joe was amazing. He laid out our defense, instructed me on what to do, and was extremely prompt in every reply. With some lawyers, especially divorce lawyers, you may not get a quick reply which can be frustrating. Joe was always quick to respond and he responded himself, not an assistant, which was reassuring. With Joe's assistance we were able to win my case which was a hard case. Joe's reputation as one of the best attorneys in the state was well deserved. If you have any type of criminal case and you need to win, Joe Tamburino is the lawyer you want.

Joe was the only attorney willing to take my case, and immediately called me and spoke with me about options and called me in for a meeting, and asked me to bring documents the next day. No other lawyer has done that. Even though the court date he was willing to take the case. If anyone runs across my review and knows who I am, they will know I have had to hire countless lawyers over the years. With this being said, there are only a handful I would recommend. If you're in Minnesota and you have a run-in with the law, I highly recommend this law firm. Hannah is sharp, and she got the job done. Money well spent, and they were very helpful. Had three serious charges dropped to the most minimal charge possible. Caplan & Tamburino are rock star life savers! I had shocking accusations that led to me being arrested, violently, with a huge bail. Once my family contacted the firm, Hillary showed up like an angel and assured me the firm would protect me and get me out of jail. Joe, with his sharp thinking, was able to get my bail significantly reduced - I was out of jail the next day. Unfortunately, my case was extraordinarily complex and involved speculative science and medicine. And, the county was playing hard and dirty (several times changing charges and claims). Regardless, Joe was able to find world-class experts, and Hillary did immense research into the science of the claims and proved unequivocally that the charges didn't make any sense scientifically. The case went to trial, though it never should have. Within 10 minutes of cross-examination of the accuser, Joe exposed both Brady and Giglio violations (that few other lawyers would have caught) - this led to a mistrial and eventually dropped charges. In fact, I was almost hoping the trial went longer so that Hillary could have exposed their fraudulent science. The firm was always immediately responsive, both the staff and the lawyers. Joe and Hillary were always considerate of my questions and statements about the case. The county was so aggressive that with another firm I likely could have lost most of my life to a hoax. Caplan & Tamburino fought hard and had multiple layers of defense - I can't recommend them any more highly than I do, they're the best.
