Bethany Ham
About
Attorney Bethany Ham is proud to be part of Tamburino Law Group in Minneapolis, where she handles criminal defense cases for clients facing serious accusations and charges. Her path to the law began in forensic science. She earned a bachelor’s degree in forensic science with a concentration in crime scene investigation, and her coursework and hands-on training included analyzing firearm casings, comparing fingerprints, collecting DNA evidence, and following chain of custody procedures. That training taught her how criminal investigations are conducted, how evidence is developed and presented in court, and where forensic methods reach their limits.
Bethany begins every case with a careful review of the facts so she can understand the evidence and identify the strengths and weaknesses of the case. She evaluates the reliability and validity of forensic evidence and challenges overstated results. Her background is especially useful in cases that depend on scientific evidence, including chemical testing in DWI matters, lab analysis in drug crimes, firearm evidence in gun crimes, and DNA evidence in sex crimes and violent crimes.
Bethany works to make criminal defense cases less intimidating by making sure clients understand what is happening, what their options are, and what to expect along the way. She takes time to learn each client’s goals and concerns, builds a strategy around them, and works to tell each client’s story. Her work with juveniles also taught her to explain complex legal issues in a simple, practical way.
Bethany was a law clerk for the Great North Innocence Project, where she reviewed criminal case records, interviewed witnesses, and investigated facts that could prove innocence. During law school, she also practiced as a Certified Student Attorney in the Child Advocacy & Juvenile Justice Clinic, where she represented juveniles and advocated for favorable dispositions and dismissals in traffic court matters. She clerked at Tamburino Law Group as well, reviewing discovery and assisting with brief writing.
Bethany grew up in the Kansas City area and earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with minors in chemistry and criminal justice. She went on to earn her J.D. at the University of Minnesota Law School.
Outside the office, she enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, learning to play tennis, and exploring the Minnesota food scene. She also cheers on Nebraska volleyball and football.
